Hello!
I had so much fun working on this tag last year and I have enjoyed working on it again this year. I have not been able to read a lot of books this year but I managed to read of a lot of fascinating books that I can’t get out of my head.
I would like to see the books that you have also enjoyed this year, so drop a link of your mid-year book freak out tag.
Without further ado, let’s get it
Best book you have read so far in 2020?
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
I have a full review of this book and I would advise that this be the book that everyone should read once in their lives. It is written from the perspective of death and that is something that I have never read about until I read this book. I enjoyed it.
Best sequel you have read so far in 2020?
Thunderhead and The Toll by Neal Schusterman.
I am so glad that I finished this series, I have to say that the conclusion was not the best but, it was okay and all loose ends were tied which is all that anyone can ever ask for when it comes to book series. I have a full review of the series, click Arc of a Scythe By Neal Shusterman|| A Review to read the full review.
A new release that you haven’t read yet but want to?
Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi.
I cannot specifically say the reason I am yet to pick this book up, as it is just sitting on my shelf gathering dust. I have tried to not read or watch any review of this book, I enjoyed the first book and I was quite interested in reading the next book in the series, but now that it is here, I am not pulled towards it.
Most anticipated release for the second half of the year?
A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir.
The Ember in the Ashes is one of my favorite book series of all time and the release of the final book in the series is all I am waiting for this year. We all have to agree that 2020 isn’t going as planned but the release of this book will cheer me up.
Biggest disappointment?
The Betrothed by Kiera Cass.
I have to say that the fact that I quite enjoyed the Selection series by Kiera Cass is one of the reasons for this letdown. The writing style didn’t even seem like Kiera, the characters were too bland. the couple that we are supposedly rooting for has no chemistry whatsoever. Honestly, I had to DNF this book, I just couldn’t get into it.
Biggest surprise?
HARROW LAKE by Kat Ellis.
This is a book that I read as part of a blog tour, it is also my first ever horror book and I enjoyed it. It has increased my thirst for this new genre.
I have another book that took me by surprise was Get A Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert which I read recently and loved. Here is a full review here GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN|| BOOK REVIEW
Favorite new author (debut or new to you?)
K.A. Tucker. This is an author that is new to me and since I read Until It Fades, I haven’t been able to stop myself from picking up more of her books. Although I have not read them, I can tell that I would enjoy them because of her amazing writing style and story development skills.
Newest fictional crush?
Josh Jameson from the Smoke and Mirrors Duology by Jodi Ellen Malpas. I read this duology earlier in the year and I have probably read the steamy scenes a few more times since then and if you are looking for a book with insanely steamy times, then this is the book for you.
Redford Morgan from Get A Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert, and I promise you that this book is so worth the hype. There is something so precious about Red and his relationship Chloe, the were not trying to change each other but accept each other. I have a full review here GET A LIFE, CHLOE BROWN|| BOOK REVIEW
Newest favorite character?
Cordelia Carstairs from the Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare
I read Chain of Gold immediately it was released (as I do with other Cassie books) and I just fell in love with Cordelia as a person. She was such a relatable character, with energy and also she recognizes her weakness. I loved the fact that she was not perfect and she could be naive at times, but her loyalty and love for her friends and family balance it all out.
Books that made you cry?
I don’t think I have read any book that made me cry, I read a lot that pushed me off the cliff of rage. The Filthy Rich Americans Series by Nikki Sloane made me cry with anger and frustration. I am still yet to finish this book series but if you are looking for something to piss you off then this is it
Books that made you happy?
Meet Cute Club by Jack Harbon
This is one of the books I read for the KPOP READ-A-THON and it is one of the cutest books that I have read in a while.
Favorite book to movie adaptation you’ve seen this year?
The Ghost Bride is based on a book of the same title by Yangsze Choo. I have not read the book yet but I love it. It is not a movie but a series and I do not know if there is going to be a second season. it is available on Netflix
Favorite review you’ve written this year?
THE BOOK THIEF BY MARKUS ZUSAK||BOOK REVIEW
The most beautiful book you have bought or received so far this year?

I am so glad that a lot of people like the Book Thief.
Wonderful list, I’ll bookmark it to have it. Btw, is the Book Thief turned into a movie? I watched the movie, didn’t know there was a book 😀
I haven’t watched the movie, I do know that it came out a few years ago. I need to check it out
These all sound really good, I’ve always wanted to read The Book Thief but just never got around to it.
Lovely post 🙂 I haven’t read The Book Thief, I’ll have to check it out
Its really good. Not very often one reads a book from the POV of death
I loved Chain of Gold! Great answers.

I can’t wait to read it again later this year
