STALKING JACK THE RIPPER SERIES||A REVIEW

Hello and welcome!!

.

“Beyond Life, Beyond Death, My Love For Thee is Eternal”

.
I started reading the Stalking Jack the Ripper series back in 2018 which was when I first heard of Kerri Maniscalco. I was really intrigued with her take on the Jack the Ripper fiasco. I love reading about Jack the Ripper and it wasn’t different in this case.

“My bounty is as boundless as the sea,

My love as deep; the more I give to thee,

The more I have, for both are infinite”

ROMEO AND JULIET, ACT 2, SCENE 2

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

.
All the books in the series kept me on my toes. Here is a full non-spoilery review of the whole series.

Stalking Jack the Ripper (#1)

Review

As someone who as always been fascinated with jack the ripper stories, this is a new perspective I actually enjoy. I love the characters, they are what really made this story enjoyable. I couldn’t wait to continue other books in this series. We were introduced to Thoms and Audrey and their bantery relationship which I love a lot.

Hunting Prince Dracula (#2)

Review

I loved it more than the first book and it was so well written, deeply detailed, each page had me hooked.
The premise of the book is just amazing, having always been fascinated by Dracula. Hunting Prince Dracula took us to the dungeons under a dark mysterious castle in Romania. People are being drained of their blood and the town is overrun with rumors of Dracula.
I love the direction in which the book took and it is just simply beautiful.

Escaping from Houdini (#3)

Review

This definitely is my least favorite in the series. My love for Thomas is still strong, of course I didn’t see a need for the unnecessary love triangle but I can understand why the author thought we needed it.

Funny how who I thought was the killer wasn’t him, too bad but it’s funny how everything came together at the end, it almost feels rushed. Talk about taking a bullet for the one you love, more like knife in this case.

Surely the journey is a nightmare and if it was me, nothing was going to let me get on that ship again. A week of pure horror on a ship in the middle of a freaking ocean, no running from terror!
I really enjoyed the first two books in the series not just because of the great banter between Thomas and Audrey but because of the science and their love for it. So when Audrey began to imagine things from the killer’s point of view like Thomas, it just made me appreciate the writing more.

Becoming the Dark Prince (#3.5)

Review

This is a novella I didn’t know I needed. It from Thomas’s point of view and we get to see his inner turmoil about his family (heir to dracula) and his feelings for Audrey and the burning jealousy he tried to control.

This book takes place on their voyage to America and in America. If you haven’t read the first 3 books. Saying anything would be a spoiler. Just know that he asks for her hand in marriage.

I just love Thomas.

Capturing the Devil (#4)

Review

The first thing you will realise when you start reading this book is that it is more based on their relationship with the other issues staying in the background. I was really here for it. Audrey and Thomas are just a sweet pair.

“You’re practically ancient. In fact”—I breathed him in, trying to hide my smile—“I believe I smell grave dirt on you. Terrible.”

When she said this I couldn’t breathe, I laughed so hard. They are always teasing each other, most times it is to cover how they feel at the moment.

After narrowly escaping with their lives ,they are finally in Chicago where they can’t seem to shake off the Devil on their heels. The first heartbreak comes when their wedding is crashed and they have to deal with the emotional turmoil. Then soon rumors of missing people and unsolved murders are on the rise and they begin to see the similarities between this new killer and the work of Jack the Ripper.

Audrey receives a letter from her brother which brings a lot of information into the light which might pile on the pressure to caught this new killer ( guess he is not really new). Determined to find the killer they go about capturing him which leads to them getting lost in the infamous murder hotel.

I just loved this book.
