Books I Read Recently #6

Hello and welcome!

.

Here I am again with another book review post. I have not been reading a lot in the past few days.

A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

Review

To be frank, this is one of those book where I can’t decide, if I like it or I didn’t. At some point I was bored with the blandness of the whole stort and how unfresh it was and later I was really interested in knowing how it would end.

This is a classic beauty and the beast retelling. Okay so in this magical world, Prince Rhen is cursed to repeat the Autumn of his 18th year, over and over again until he can find someone who will fall in love with him.
(Classic beast enchantment)

In the real world is Harper whose cerebral palsy has left her limping and looking out for her brother who has to work for bad people as a result of the money their father owes. While she is on look out, she sees a Man dragging a rather unseemly girl and she decides to save the girl only to be truth into this magical world with the man, Grey who is the Prince’s Royal Commander.

Some aspects of this book was great, others not so much, I can’t really go into it without laying spoilers.
The ending did leave me a bit surprised but I don’t think it was compelling enough for me to await a second book.

Rating

I honestly gave this 2.7 stars.

Bridal Boot Camp (Little Bridge Island 0.5) by Meg Cabot

Review

This is so sweet and short and I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Simply put, Roberta is a personal trainer who moves to an island to start a bridal boot camp where ladies who are getting ready to marry come to get fit, she hooks up with Ryan who is a hot hunk of a Police officer.
Oh….. a Hurricane seems to be headed their way

I gave this 2.7 out of 5 stars

Making Up by Helena Hunting

Review

You can never go wrong with helena hunting, this year alone I think I have read over 10 of her books. This is the fourth book in the shacking up series.

So this book sort of begins in a adult toy store, where Cozy is working when hot sex in a suit Griffin walks into the store with a bachelor party list. She thinks that would be the end of their encounter but few days later he walks into the shop and asks her out to dinner.

The thing with adult romance or chick lit is not to give too much away. We usually all know how they end. The sweetest parts are in the middle where we can’t predict. So advice is, just read it.

The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillorry

Review

I can now see why people love this series. The Wedding Party came out recently and that is all everyone can talk about. I have to say I did love the representation and also the fact that the author didn’t sugar coat anything. You can also see the differences and similarities between the two main characters and how they manage to figure it out

Monroe is what you would call a voluminous black woman who is stuck in a hotel elevator with Drew who is a hot guy in town to be a groomsman in his ex girlfriend’s wedding.

Drew ends up asking Monroe to be his date for the wedding, hence the title.A relationship blossoms between them and soon they are flying out every weekend to spend time with each other.

I gave this 4.3 out of 5 stars

The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory

Review

Some would think about the disaster it would be for their girlfriends to say no to their proposal in front of thousands of people. But this was the start to an amazing story. Nik is sitting alone after her boyfriend storms out of Dodger stadium and soon she would be crammed by reporters but that is when she meets Carlos and his sister who saves her.

They have a few thank you drinks with her friends and soon it’s over the email flirting and helping each other to visiting each others house and soon beds.

She is not used to commitment and neither is he but one of them cant control their feelings and the words I love You blurts out and send the other running for the hills

I gave this book 3.4 out of 5 stars

The Wedding Party by Jasmine Guillory

Review

For some weird reason I like this one the best. Maddie is Alexa’s bestfriend and she happens to be sleeping with Theo who is Alexa’s friend and Work partner, that is really all you need to know at this point. Knowing too much will spoil the surprise.

I gave this a 4.5 out of 5 stars

Becoming the Dark Prince (Stalking Jack the Ripper #3.5) by Kerri Maniscalco

Review

This is a novella I didn’t know I needed. It from Thomas’s point of view and we get to see his inner turmoil about his family (heir to dracula) and his feelings for Audrey and the burning jealousy he tried to control.

This book takes places book on their voyage to America and in America. If you haven’t read the first 3 books. Saying anything would be a spoiler. Just know that he asks for her hand he marriage.

I just love Thomas.
