Hello and welcome!!!
I have been in some sort of a reading slump in the last few days and as much as I want to claim that quarantine isn’t getting to me, it is. I have accumulated a few books over the past month and a half and I am hoping to review them all in this post. A lot of the books are ones that I read during LOCK-DOWN-A-THON #1 (check it out if you haven’t) and some I read very recently.
So without further ado let’s get into it
Initiation & Obsession by Nikki Sloane
Okay so I read this book a few weeks about and I hate it. I don’t mean that I rated it low, it is just that this story pissed me off. In the Initiation, we follow Marist as she prepares to become a member of the Hales family. she had to go through there weird family initiation, which involves all the old board members licking her vagina and yes it is as strange as you think. One thing was comfort, Royce’s father didn’t partake because Marist didn’t allow him. His thirst that was denied led to his obsession with Marist who was supposed to be married to Royce. This led to the second book The Obsession, here we follow Macalister, Royce’s father, as he tries to get into Marist pants, so devises evils plots to make her give in to him (at least he got some of what he wanted). I hated the story but it didn’t story em from picking up the third book, now I am hooked and I want to know what comes off all of these. I do like the writing style, it is very anticipatory and I loved that.
I gave both books 3.8 out of stars.
Harrow Lake by Kat Ellis
This was a book I read as part of a blog tour and I enjoyed it so much. I wanted to diversify my reading this year with this book I was able to get the thriller genre out of the way. I gave this 3.7 out of 5 stars.
Irresistible by R.L. Mathewson
I had high expectations and it was big let down and I believe that this is partially my fault. I sort of binged the first 10 books last year and the gap I had between those books and this one was a bit too wide for me to be as invested in the characters as I earlier was. In this book, we follow Aidan and Melanie as they navigate life as expecting parents. The only thing is that they are in this together because Aidan feels some sort of responsibility and as you would expect he falls in love with her. I had high hopes and it just wasn’t met. I gave this book 3.2 out of 5 stars.
Of Curses and Kisses by Sandhya Menon
Okay so I enjoyed this one, it took me a long time to finish than I usually finish contemporary but I liked this one. I have read several Sandhya Menon books and I have to some expect loved the representation that I see in those books. As this is the first fantasy book that she has written I would have to say that it was lacking in the fantasy element. It read just like a simple YA fiction. This book is supposed to be a spin of the beauty and the beast and I didn’t get that at all. Here we follow a Jaya who is an Indian princess and Grey who is the son of an aristocrat. Their families have a long history of rivalry and it doesn’t seem to stop the two from falling in love. I don’t want to say too much about this book, you need to pick it up for yourself.
I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars
The Lovers: Cards of Love & Another & Liar by Fiona Cole
I read the first few books in the series during the lockdown-a-thon and I really enjoyed them which is why I decided to continue with the books in the series. I gave the three books 3.3 out of 5 stars.
Thanks for reading.
