Welcome to my August wrap up!
August was definitely one of my busiest months. I started exercising and eating healthy and I have to say it put me in a good mood, that is, it has been great for my mental health. I am in the last stage of my dissertation (About to change from Grad student to Ph.D. candidate. Yes I am happy). Anyways August for me was just a diverse reading month. I read lots of romance, fantasy, poetry, and some non-fiction books.
BOOKS
Four books that really stood out for me this month include
- Hood Feminism: Notes from the women that a movement forgot by Mikki Kendall: I have a podcast on which I review this book, you can check at Podcast: White-Washed Feminism
- The Death of Vivek Oji by Akwaeke Emezi: This book has to be one of the most powerful and gut-wrenching books I read in August and it is one of my favorite books of the year.
- The Italian by T.L. Swan: if you have not seen my post on mafia books, then I hope you check it out. I listed a few mafia books that might interest you. T.L.Swan is now on the Favorite Romance Author List
- Kiss My Cupcake by Helena Hunting: If you are looking for a really cute and well-crafted book with characters that blow you away. then this is the book for you.
DRAMA
However, because of my busy schedule. I wasn’t able to squeeze much time out to watch a lot of Korean dramas. I finished PSYCHO BUT IT’S OKAY and I started watching Flower of Evil. You need to start watching that drama if you haven’t.
MUSIC
A few songs that I couldn’t stop listening to were
- In silence by Janet Suhh
- Dynamite by BTS
- Losing You by Wonho
- HOLO by Lee Hi
Thanks for reading. What were your favorite things of the month?
