5 BOOK SEQUELS I WANT TO READ NOW

Hello!

I am someone who loves reading book series, however, the first book in the series sets the tone for me. If I cannot get into a story in the first book, I would not even be giving the next book in the series a try especially if there is a lot of books in the series. But I have read a few books in the past two years and I am excited about the release of the next book in the series. Some of the books might be out already and the others I am waiting to get, nonetheless, I am excited to read them.

Without further ado, let’s get into it…

Vicious Spirits by Kat Cho

I read the first book in the series last year and I loved it. With the ending of the first book resulting in so much death, I am quite excited to see how Miyoung and Jihoon continue. I might have to read the first book again, just to refresh, before I read this one, but I am super excited. I have a review of the first book on Goodreads so check it out.

Expected Publication date: August 18th, 2020

Chain of Iron by Cassandra Clare

Okay, I know that I have yet to review the first book on here (that is my blog) but it is honestly because I have not gathered myself from the puddle that this book left me in. I am trying not to give spoilers BUT after Cordelia got engaged to James (who she is in love with and has had a steamy time with), I was thinking nothing could go wrong, I hoped it would be smooth sailing from there but I know I am wrong and I want to be. I have resolved to get painful heartbreaks reading Cassie’s book. I mean look at the cover of this book. I cannot wait to see what happens next

Expected publication date: March 2nd, 2021

A Vow So Bold and Deadly by Brigid Kemmerer

Okay, honestly I have not read the second book in the series but I have it and I cannot wait to read it. I loved reading the first book, but I was unsure of how I felt about it but after reading it again, I really enjoyed it and now I want to just binge-read books two and three. I cannot wait to see what happens between Rhen, Grey, and Harper.

Expected publication date: January 12th, 2021

A Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir

This has to be one of my most anticipated releases of the year. I honestly believe it is an underrated series as it is not as talked about as cassie or Sarah’s book but I am here to tell you that you are missing out on a gem. I read the first 3 books in this Quartet back in 2018 and I am hoping to reread all three books before the release of the final book. I just love the writing style, the world-building, the relentless passion that the characters have for freedom, and the whole atmosphere of the book. We begin the story with Laia (a slave) escaping from the martial empire and Elias is a soldier who doesn’t want to be a part of the tyranny that the empire enforces. Gosh I cannot stop recommending this series, I mean we go from war to prison break to magic, it is just precious. I mean with the Nightbringer and Jinn free, I wonder how much havoc they would wreck and how the alliance between Laia and Blood Shrike would be. I am so excited, I want to know what happens to Elias.

Expected publication date: December 1st, 2020

The Memory of Babel by Christelle Dabos

This is the third book in the Mirro Visitor Quartet. This book is really popular in France and since I cannot read french, I like almost everyone who is waiting for the translation of the third book and I need it now. I have never fallen into a world so completely until I read the first book. I had never heard of this series until I stumbled on the first book in my community library and I knew I just had to get them. The way the world is and the magic of the world is so different from anything I have ever read. Ophelia who lives on Anima, a place where objects have souls is forced into a marriage to Thorn from the Dragon Clan which is on another Ark. She has to fit into the way of living on the new Ark or lose her life. I just love it. I requested this book on Netgalley so I hope I get it.

Expected Publication date: September 8th, 2020

Do you have any books that you are anticipating? Are they on this list? Any you want to add to this list?

Thanks for reading

  1. Great list! I just bought An Ember in the Ashes – couldn’t resist. I’ve heard so many amazing things about the series. I’m hoping to get to it soon, but first I have to finish House of Earth and Blood. 🙂

    1. I have been trying to get into House of Earth and Blood and I have just heard so many conflicting opinions about it. I hope to read it soon

      1. I’m about halfway through it now and am liking it. I do think there’s a lot of info dumping in the book, which I understand but don’t love. But the characters are fantastic and the world and plot are really interesting!

        1. I need to check it out. Info dumping usually happens a lot in first books of any series. I will probably read it before year’s end
